England based, Shaïny Vilo is a black French artist currently focusing on photography to document and explore identities surrounding them. AFRO+PUNK is an autobiographical project depicting a journey through the exploration of black identities in the alternative community and the struggles and complexities faced whilst in the middle. Inspired by Grace Wales Bonner and Basquiat, this project provocatively addresses identity, race and sexuality through symbolism and an essay piece in hope for other black alternative people who have limited but grand nevertheless sources to look back at to relate to it.
