The power of women and a resemblance to the origins of feminism is a conceptual idea I wanted to embrace within my work. I took the idea of storytelling to depict the feminist truth from the 1970s until now while overlapping this concept with ideals of femininity and obstruction to sexual standards of women and challenging the male gaze. Taking the inspiration of Feminist photographers such as Nancy Cunard and Ellen Von Unwerth, I employed similar styles and photographic conceptual ideas to present a Zine, embracing powerful narrative of women and communicate this to the world through a personal and direct source. As I continue to develop my concepts for my photography I continue to find myself drawing into the ideals of femininity and self-expression, I believe this is a direct drawing from my personality and allows me to show myself unconsciously through my own work.
